39th Annual May 4 Commemoration: Remembering the past, shaping the future
Symposium events today and tomorrow

The 10th annual Symposium on Democracy begins tonight in the Kiva at 7 p.m.
The symposium continues in the Kiva on Tuesday at 8 a.m. with presenters lined-up until 5 p.m.
This year's theme, "Re-membering: Framing, Embracing, Revising History," is supported by the 14 scholars who are scheduled to present during the two-day symposium.
Chris Triffo, director of the Emmy award winning May 4 documentary most students see during First Year Experience class, will open the event.
Jay Winter, a Yale University history professor, is the keynote speaker for Tuesday's luncheon at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.
Winter will explain the "memory boom" and how silence can help people to both remember and forget the past.
Those who cannot make it to the symposium can visit exhibits in White Hall and Taylor Hall until May 8.
