The cost of cleaning up College Avenue

Issue date: 5/1/09 Section: News
Kent officials said the total cost of damage to city property during last weekend's College Fest activities on College Avenue was $5,392.
Most of the amount - $4,590 - is from the cost to repair the road where one of the fires took place, said Gene Roberts, Kent's service director.
Roberts said it might not look like the road has much damage, but a fire on asphalt burns away the glue that holds the road together.
He said there were also four stop signs and one street sign that needed replaced, which cost $742. The cost for a street cleaner to clean College Avenue was an additional $60.

I'd be willing to bet the total expense incurred by the City of Kent was more than double that $5392 figure reported. I wonder exactly how much all of the mutual aid from surrounding law enforcement agencies cost the taxpayers of the City of Kent. (Continued…)
