KSU Chorale, choruses to travel to Cleveland

The Kent State University Chorale and the Men's and Women's Choruses will perform at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Cleveland tomorrow evening as part of the Helen D. Schubert Concert Series.
Director Kerry Glann wanted to participate in the annual concert series last year, but there were no openings for any more performers. This year, however, the ensembles were invited to participate.
The cathedral is a "wonderful acoustic space," and the performers will sing in a place many choruses aren't used to singing in, Glann said.
"If you think about the typical European-style big, open stone cathedral, that's the type of space we're going to be singing in," he said. "It allows us to sing the music that was written in the Renaissance and Baroque time period (meant) to be sung in those type of cathedrals in Europe. (To) get to sing that music in the type of space it was designed for is really neat."
Glann also said the concert will allow the ensembles to present the choral program from Kent State and reach out to different audiences.
The chorale and choruses will perform a few pieces individually and then will sing one song including all three groups. Tickets to the event are free.
