Dancers rehearsed last night for their show "Ardent Spirits," which opens Friday and runs through Sunday. Performed by the Kent Dance Ensemble, the show features modern dances.

Ardent Spirits:

&bull Where: E. Turner Stump Theatre in the Music and Speech Center
&bull Tickets: Adults: $16, seniors/KSU Alumni, Faculty and Staff: $12, students with valid ID or under 18: $8

The theme of "Ardent Spirits" is to celebrate the seniors who are graduating the dance program. "'Ardent' means passionate," said Kim Karpanty, director of the Kent Dance Ensemble.

The Kent Dance Ensemble is a university dance company comprised of students, which gives its dancers the experience of a professional group. Every member must either be a dance performance or a dance education major and audition to participate.

The ensemble performs at Kent State and travels to public schools and participates in regional and national dance festivals. This year's ensemble has 10 senior dancers and three juniors. The performance will consist of jazz and modern pieces choreographed by Kent State faculty and guests. - Sara Petersen
