Vanderbilt prof to speak about Obama's challenges

Vanderbilt University professor Carol Swain will speak in honor of Black History Month tomorrow afternoon at the University Library.

The speech, sponsored by Libraries and Media Services, will take place at 4 p.m. at the Gerald and Victoria C.T. Read Special Collections Classroom on the 10th floor.

The subject of Swain's speech is "Immigration, Identity Politics, and the Decline of America: A Challenge for President Obama."

Swain has earned national and international accolades for her work on race relations. She wrote the book "Black Faces, Black Interests: The Representation of African Americans in Congress," which received the Woodrow Wilson Foundation Award in 1994. In addition, Swain is a member of the Tennessee Advisory Committee to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission.

Now that all Californian taxpayers are forced to pay the financial burden of illegal aliens who have settled in the state. Supposedly there are 3.7 million people who have no right to be in the state. (Continued…)
