The Kent City Council Finance Committee voted last night to recommend the removal of a 0.25 percent income tax increase from the November ballot. The council will vote at next Wednesday's meeting on whether to repeal the increase.
Ward 6 Councilwoman Tracy Wallach asked the Finance Committee to recommend the
removal.
"I think at this time, with the economic situation the way it is, I think it would be inappropriate to place it on the fall ballot," Wallach said.
The council originally voted in September 2008 to put the tax increase on the ballot. If approved by voters, it would raise Kent's income tax to 2.25 percent.
