Professor dies after beating

Political science professor Gertrude "Trudy" Steuernagel died Friday, according to a Record-Courier report.
She had been hospitalized for severe head injuries after her 18-year-old son, Sky Walker, allegedly beat her. Walker was indicted prior to her death for attempted murder.
Steuernagel had been listed in critical condition at Akron City Hospital since Jan. 29.
According to the Record-Courier, Walker could face additional charges as a result of her death.

I'm so, so sorry to hear of Prof. Steuernagel's death. I only knew her & Sky in passing, as patrons of a pool where I used to work, but it was clear to everyone who met them that she loved him deeply & had an infinite amount of patience with him. (Continued…)

My deepest sympathy to Trudy's family and friends. May she rest in peace. I hope that Sky will receive the help that he needs and deserves. What a sad ending to her wonderful life of teaching - not only in the classroom but in life in general. (Continued…)

I don't even know how to react. How could something so awful happen to such a caring woman at the hands of the person she cared about most. One need only read the articles written by her about her son to see how much she cared about Sky. (Continued…)

I understand that Sky has autism but murder is murder and if everyone desires to be treated equal when things are good then guess what, equal treatment when things are bad. (Continued…)

This is so terrible; I would never have thought Sky was capable of something like this. I used to babysit sky a few years ago and was very close with professor Steuernagel. (Continued…)

Well, this article states Sky "allegedly" beat her. I don't know the details of this case and have not found anything pertaining to REAL details of the case online at all; before you all go rushing in with an indictment of his guilt (which many have been wrongfully accused through indictments and through police.
