Brady's Leap Adventure Race will take place at 10 a.m Nov. 8.

This is northeast Ohio's only adventure race.

The deadline to register is Oct. 31. The cost is $30 for students and members and $40 for non-members.

The race is named after Captain Samuel Brady, a famed frontier scout of Northeast Ohio. It is a multi-discipline race that will lead participants through famous historical areas that Brady raced through to escape American Indians.

Adventure Center coordinator Dave Herpy said the race is geared toward beginners. It is four hours long and includes biking, paddling and orienteering.

The race course will feature local parks, trails and rivers. There are race checkpoints along the Portage Hike and Bike Trail and the Cuyahoga River.

Herpy is hoping to attract out-of-state participants. He is also encouraging fraternities, sororities and the ROTC to take place in the race.

The cost of the race provides for a T-shirt and refreshments.

Equipment for the race can be rented from the Student Recreation and Wellness Center's Outdoor Rental Center on a first-come, first-serve basis.

To register, log on to www.recservices.kent.edu or visit the Pro Shop located in the rec center.
