The Wick Poetry Center will sponsor the presentation "Race in the Classroom" by poet Toi Derricotte at noon today in the Multicultural Center of the Student Center.

Maggie Anderson, director of the Wick Poetry Center, said Derricotte will talk about the role that race plays in classrooms.

Anderson said Derricotte will also read poetry from her book "The Black Notebooks: An Interior Journey." In her work, Derricotte describes her experiences as a light-skinned black woman and teacher.
