By playing video games for free every Tuesday, students can work toward getting an Xbox or PlayStation 2 to play any time they want.

The Center for Student Involvement and All-Campus Programming Board kicked off the Xbox and PlayStation 2 tournament Saturday night in the Student Center Ballroom by setting up projectors to feature the popular games Dance Dance Revolution, Halo 3, Madden 2008 and Rock Band.

The tournament will continue throughout the semester at 8 p.m. every Tuesday on the TVs in the Rathskeller.

Students win the tournament by accumulating points throughout the semester.

They can get points just by showing up and even more points by playing and winning games, said Tom Simpson, assistant director for the Center for Student Involvement.

Points will be calculated at the end of the semester, and students with the most points will receive games systems, games or accessories.

Freshman architecture major Calvin Tustan said he plans on attending the tournaments weekly.

"I left my PlayStation 2 at home because I thought it would distract me," Tustan said. "I have been getting my playing in at the Eastway bowling alley, but it isn't free."

The games are free to play and will change weekly. Student IDs must be shown at the door.
