Two women were hit by a Jeep Cherokee while running across Main Street near the Robin Hood last night. The women were taken by ambulance to a hospital. The women appeared to be college-aged.
Lt. Donnie Brown of the Kent Police Department could only confirm that a vehicle struck two pedestrians at about 9:30 p.m.
Joe Jaworski, sophomore business management major, was driving a car adjacent to the car that hit the women. He said the women began crossing the street while the light was red. While the women were crossing, the light turned green.
"The girls started running, and the car that hit them couldn't see them because the cars next to it were blocking their view," Jaworski said.
The scene of the accident was littered with broken glass, pieces of plastic, blood and articles of the women's clothing.
Police closed the westbound lane of Main Street from North Lincoln Street to University Drive for about an hour to clean up the scene.

Did anyone see the mock car crash in front of the MACC on Wednesday? I thought it was real, but there were high-school students walking through it for a prom demonstration. (Continued…)
