The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is teaming up with Books All Around, a nonprofit organization, to host a book drive to benefit underprivileged children, families and schools.

The drive will kick off today and continue through Friday. There will be a drop-off box in the University library's main entrance where students can donate their new or used books.

Students will also be able to drop off books in the Student Center from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in Room 302 and from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday on the second floor of the Student Center.

The group is hoping donators will bring children's books, but they will also accept books from other genres, said Micah Shornack, vice president of planning for college success in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

"This is the first time we've run a book drive, and we hope people outside the organization will donate," Shornack said.

The society is an honors group that participates in other community service activities such as tutoring children.

Students who are seeking more information about the drive can contact Shornack at mshornac@kent.edu.
