Professional companies to help build resumés

Learn how to sell yourself.
The Society for Human Resource Management is hosting resume night at 6 p.m. tonight in the Business Administration Building in Room 483.
Nadine Miyares, co-vice president of the Society for Human Resource Management, said the goal of resume night is to help students find jobs after graduation, build a resume and get graduates noticed by employers.
Hobson Hamilton, assistant director of Career Services, will give a presentation from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. about writing resumes, cover letters and thank you letters.
The rest of the night will be focused on resume review and how to build an effective 30 second commercial of yourself.
The purpose of the 30 second commercial is to learn how to sell yourself to an employer, just like a normal TV advertisement.
There will also be 13 professional companies present to help review and evaluate the resumes including Goodyear, First Energy and RJG Associates.
Miyares said she believes there will be a much better turnout this year than last.
There will be handouts available for students to take with them for further assistance as they continue with their education and job searching. Refreshments will also be available.
