Women's basketball player indicted

One of the women's basketball players arrested and charged last semester for possession of stolen property has been indicted by a Portage County grand jury.
Sophomore general studies major Jamilah C. Humes was indicted Jan. 2 on two fifth-degree felony charges: receiving stolen property and forgery.
Humes and ChyTearra T. Kintchen, a junior criminal justice studies major, were charged with receiving stolen property — a Huntington National Bank debit card — in early September.
Lt. Carl Sweigert of the Kent State University police presented facts of the case to a grand jury. He said the card was used at area stores to make purchases in July.
Humes is scheduled to be arraigned at 2 p.m., Jan. 22 at the Portage County Common Pleas Court.
Director of athletics Laing Kennedy said both women were suspended from classes in the fall semester through Judicial Affairs.
He said Humes has re-enrolled at Kent State for the spring semester and is back practicing with the team, but Kintchen has not.
