Celebrating Kwanzaa the Kent State way this Thursday

A Kwanzaa celebration will be held today at 7 p.m. in the Student Multicultural Center in Room 206 of the Student Center. The event will feature African storyteller Barbara Eady, recitations and a time fellowship after the program called a Karamu. Food will also be provided by Kent State's dining services.
"Kwanzaa is a celebration of the tradition, standards and principles that have sustained the African American community throughout time," said Shane Williams, co-chair for the Black Graduate Students Association. "It's a time for African American people and others to pay special attention to the ideals that have shaped and molded our community."
The event is sponsored by the Black Graduate Students Association, the Pan-African Faculty and Staff Association, the Office of Diversity and Academic Initiatives and the Graduate Student Senate.
It is open to Kent State students, faculty and the Kent community. All ages are welcome.
