The Student Recreation and Wellness Center and the National Exercise Trainers Association, a nonprofit fitness professional association, will host a nationally recognized fitness certification workshop at 8 a.m. on Nov. 3.

The group exercise certification workshop teaches participants the basics of being a group fitness instructor. The workshop consists of half lecture and half practical work.

At the end of the workshop, participants take a written exam for their two-year fitness instructor certification.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to become an instructor or renew their certification. No college or exercise experience is necessary.

The rec center is always looking for people to teach classes, said Judy Watkins, group fitness and instructional program manager for the rec center.

"It's a great opportunity," she added.

Registration ends on Nov. 3, but Watkins advises registering as soon as possible because of the materials needed.

Those interested can register at www.netafit.org or by calling 800-AEROBIC.
