Men's golf dominates first days of Windon Memorial

The men's golf team broke a recent habit of starting slow on the first day of tournaments as they lead after two rounds at the Windon Memorial Classic in Glencoe, Ill.
The Flashes lead the Northwestern Wildcats by 10 strokes going into the third round and were the only team to finish under par after the first day of golf. The team finished 9-under-par for the day, a season best after two rounds of play.
Sophomore David Ludlow shot the lowest round of the tournament so far for the Flashes with a 4-under-par score for the second 18 holes.
Ludlow and freshman Jean-Philippe Paiement led the team individually with scores of 3-under-par after the first 36 holes.
Freshmen Brett Cairns and John Hahn also played extremely well Sunday, both finishing 1-under-par. Hahn shot several low rounds for the Flashes earlier this season before missing the team's last tournament, the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, due to injury.
The Flashes led the tournament by two strokes after the first round of play and went on to shoot at 7-under-par in the second round, a tournament low, tying fourth place Minnesota's second round.
Northern Illinois, the only other Mid-American conference team competing in the tournament, finished the day in ninth place, 21 strokes behind Kent State.
Kent State's men's golf team will play the final 18 holes of the Windon Memorial Classic today.
