A man pried open a window into a residence hall room in Prentice Hall Saturday night and stole a laptop computer and a calculator.

Carl Sweigert, Kent State Police detective, said the break-in occurred between 9:30 and 10:20 p.m. Witnesses saw the man pry open the window and enter the room. They informed their resident assistant, who then called police. There was no one in the room at the time of the break-in.

Witnesses describe the man as Caucasian and in his early 20s. They said he has brown hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a yellow sleeveless T-shirt and khaki knee-length shorts. He was seen getting into a green or teal car in the Taylor Hall parking lot.

Sweigert said the laptop was valued at $1,500, and the calculator was valued at $145. He said the Police Department is making extra patrols around Prentice to prevent a similar crime from happening.

Sweigert said students should always call 911 if they see anything suspicious around campus.
