LifeShare falls 210 donations short of goal for scholarships

LifeShare did not reach its goal of creating 15 scholarships from blood donations this semester.
Only $4,500 worth of free tuition will be provided to students next fall.
For every 35 units of donated blood, LifeShare Community Blood Services created one $500 scholarship. The organization was about 210 donations short of reaching its goal.
A total of nine LifeShare scholarships were created this semester, said Sarah Hallsky, graduate assistant in the Office of Health Promotion.
These scholarships are available to students majoring in a health-related field of study. The scholarships will be applied to Fall 2007 semester tuition.
Eligible students can apply on the student financial aid Web site, sfa.kent.edu. The form should be printed out and turned in to the Office of Health Promotion in the DeWeese Health Center by May 1.
All recipients will be chosen and notified by finals week.
