The First Freedom Baptist Church's Annual Spring Missions Conference began yesterday and will run through Sunday.

Sue Fields, treasurer of the Brimfield church, said it will host guest speakers from three families from Australia, the Arctic Region of the North Pole and the Russian sector of New York City.

The missionaries ask the churches to support them in the work they will do or are already doing in a certain country. This is why they come to the mission conferences to present their countries of interest.

"They bring a PowerPoint presentation that they have developed for the country they wish to work in," Fields said.

The missionaries can't hold jobs in the countries they minister in because it would take jobs away from a national. Also, 40-hour work weeks with missionary work don't leave much time.

The conference is open to the community, Fields said, and each missionary presents his or her work on a different night. Last night featured Australia, tonight the North Pole and tomorrow New York City.

Those interested in attending can contact the First Freedom Baptist Church at 2171 Tallmadge Road in Brimfield and by calling (330) 673-0997.
