Students discovered what goes on behind the scenes of a professional television studio Friday.

Marianne Warzinski, College of Communication and Information Commons program coordinator, took a group of students in the CCI Commons to WKYC-TV Channel 3 in Cleveland as part of the organization's first field trip.

The trip gave the students a look at what goes on at a station, Warzinski said.

"(Running the studio) looks very easy, but it takes a lot of work," she said, calling it "beneficial" for students to see what goes on in the field.

At the studio, the students were members of the audience for the morning show "Good Company," watched the "Channel 3 News Midday" from the control room, took a tour of the graphics area and talked with the graphic designers.

"The trip to WKYC was fun and unforgettable," pre-journalism major Ceciliarose Evans said in an e-mail to the CCI Commons.

CCI Commons received the $300 for the trip to help with freshman retention.

The group was trying to go in the fall but didn't get the money until November, Warzinski said.
