Library to extend hours

The Kent State Library will extend its late-night hours for students this fall.

For the last six weeks of the semester, the library will be open until 3 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, said Robert Gray, head of circulation.

Before, the library only had extended hours for finals week.

While the library will be open to students, Gray said the circulation desk and the reference center will be closed.

Senior integrated language arts major Natalie Mitchen has come to the Library's late-night hours during finals week before.

"I'm a procrastinator," she said. "So I probably won't need it until the end of the semester, when it's crunch time."

For junior deaf education major Jon Steele, the extra hours provide more options for a busy schedule.

"I've never needed to use the extended hours before," Steele said, "but with working full time and going to school full time, I probably will. It's nice to know I could come here after work to study."

The extended hours will take effect the last six weeks of fall and spring semesters. The library will not have extended hours during summer sessions.
