KSU lives, learns after May 4, 1970

When four students were shot and nine were wounded by the National Guard on May 4, 1970, most students were shocked and in a daze. Although five weeks were left in the spring quarter, class was the furthest thing from many students' minds. The university was ordered to shut down and all students were evacuated onto buses traveling to all major cities as far as Pennsylvania. (2) comments

The 10th annual Symposium on Democracy begins tonight in the Kiva at 7 p.m. The symposium continues in the Kiva on Tuesday at 8 a.m. with presenters lined-up until 5 p.m. This year's theme, "Re-membering: Framing, Embracing, Revising History," is supported by the 14 scholars who are scheduled to present during the two-day symposium. Loud music and a few rowdy drinking games sum up the festivities at Drinkin' on North Lincoln and Shermania on Saturday. The block parties were much more subdued compared with College Fest the previous weekend. Police and students alike noticed the difference. (1) comment
